Year 3/4 - Willow Class
Mr Wood
Willow Class is the first of our Key Stage Two classes and is a mixed age class comprising of all our Year 3 pupils and a group of Year 4s. We have three key stage two classes in total at Overton and they are all busy classes with up to 34 pupils in each.
Pupils make an important transition from KS1 to KS2 and Mr Wood, our Willow Class teacher, encourages children to be even more independent, teaching children strategies to support their own learning before seeking help from an adult. It is important that our pupils make a positive and confident start in KS2 and so Mr Wood's listening ear is always there for any small worries to be addressed quickly and ironed out.
The same curriculum subjects are covered in KS2 as in KS1. Children still learn under the umbrella of termly topics which contextualise most subjects; English, Maths, Science and RE are taught discretely as these are our core subjects in school.
Willow Class is a formative point in the journey through school where our pupils become more mature, more independent and more responsible. Our pupils also begin to show their unique talents more confidently and are encouraged to show them and share them to all.
