Overton St Helen's Primary School family news: Issue 6(26/27)
Weekly Round Up
'We're in it together' has been the message of the week in school - the children have been working hard together in their lessons, building up their shared knowledge and understanding of topics and achieving some very pleasing results. We've been focusing on the Christian Value of Koinonia, meaning togetherness and fellowship. We have rephrased this as 'living well together' and it is lovely to see many of our pupils doing just this in school.
Just a quick reminder that on the last Wednesday of half-term we will be holding our first parent's evening of the year. If you haven't already returned your request for a meeting with your child's teacher, please remember to do so as soon as you can.
Safe Parking
Whilst I appreciate parking is a challenge in a morning and afternoon at drop-off and pick-up times, it is vitally important that it is done safely and legally. I say this in the interest of keeping all our pupils safe with the ability to get across the road in plain sight of oncoming cars.
Please remember that if you are struggling for a spot, parking in the Memorial Car Park is a good option - it is only a two minute walk to and from school and will absolutely relieve the stress of finding a place to park.
OSFA Reminders
A few reminders from OSFA:
On Thursday 22nd Oct, OSFA will be holding the first disco of the school year - the Glow Disco. Don't forget to book your child's place at the disco sooner rather than later.
Don't forget to sign up to purchase your number for the 200 Club prize draws - a £5 number lasts you for all six draws throughout the school year.
If you haven't already signed up to Easy Fundraising, please consider doing so. It is a great earner for OSFA with no effort what so ever on anyone's part except for the initial sign up. Last year, we made almost £700 in this way.
Thank you for your support!
Safe Mornings
It was noted this week that there were quite a number of pupils playing on the very wet school field before the start of the school day. This was not great for many reasons including wet feet at the beginning of the day and muddy carpets and classrooms. We have strict rules during school time about using our school field for these reasons. Our pupils know that if wet, we don't go on it and so this should be the case before the start of the school day too.
In a morning, school staff are usually out on playground supervision from 8.20am onwards when the big majority of our pupils arrive. If they are dropped off at the school gate it is important that they come and wait on the bottom playground where they can be supervised. If pupils are waiting with parents to enter the KS2 classes, then they should be with their adult and not playing on the field.
We have discussed this with our KS2 pupils this week and would be grateful for parent support with this too. Many thanks.
Stars of the Week
Congratulations to Lilah in Holly Class, Sophia in Elm, Joey in Willow Class, Albie in Beech and Will in Oak, who are our Stars of the Week for some amazing, hard work in Maths and English lessons and showing commitment to learning across the board.
Well done!
