Overton St Helen's Primary School family news: Issue 4(26/27)
Weekly Round Up
A big thank you to everyone this week who has sent in donations of food towards our Harvest collection for Morecambe Food Bank. There was a fabulous display this morning as the Worship Council led our harvest festival.
And, I have to give a very special mention and thanks to the Worship Council who led a fantastic worship this morning with a very important message. They spoke clearly and confidently and reminded all who were present about the importance of sharing. We learnt that we can all take action when we see any inequalities in our lives.
It was however not the end of a great week in school, as this afternoon, our House Captains served tea and cake for our Macmillan coffee afternoon. Thank you all for coming to support and a big THANK YOU to those who sent cakes in this morning.
Visitors
We've had two sets of visitors in school this week - Lancashire Fire and Rescue and Emma Garsten from Heysham Nature Reserve.
On Tuesday the fire service spent time with Elm and Oak Class, talkgin them trhough valuable lessons on staying safe. Then on Thursday, Emma from Heysham Nature Reserve worked with Elm class again as part of their learning in science. Don't forget, Heysham Nature Reserve is a great place for a wlak around at the weekends - there's always lots to see and notice. It's also worth keepign an eye on their facebook page as there's lots of things going on.
Open Days at Overton St Helen's
We had the first of our open day events on Thursday this week, for families to come and have a look around if considering Overton as their choice of primary school. Our older pupils did a remarkable job of leading tours of the school and were most welcoming.
We have two more open day events coming up this Autumn Term. If you know of anyone who is considering schools in the area, then please pass on an invite to come and look around.
OSFA Annual General Meeting
Next Friday afternoon at 1.30pm, OSFA will be holding their AGM. At the meeting, they will review activities and fund raising from the previous year before establishing committee members for the upcoming year.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who is new to OSFA to come along and see what happens. OSFA is a fabulous group of mums and dads who work really hard for our school and children, having some good fun in the process. If you feel you want to get involved, or just want to know more about how things work, then please join us.
You will be very welcome.
Stars of the Week
A big well done to Pearl in Holly Class, Grace in Elm Class, Bradley in Willow, Neave in Beech and Alba in Oak Class who are our stars of the week for showing enthusiasm and hard work in their learning, for having confidence in sharing ideas and for showing determination.
