Overton St Helen's Primary School family news: Issue 35(25/26)

Final Round Up!

Well, what a year it has been! It's been full of great times, great learning and great joy.

I always get sentimental at the end of a school year when I look back and think about how far each and everyone of our school pupils has come; how much they have grown their personalities and developed their confidence for learning new things and embracing challenges. They are more than ready for the challenge of their new classes and classmates and the new school year that lies ahead.

However, we are truly ready for a good rest now, as the heat has taken every last bit of energy from us. Tomorrow, our last day, we give our final focus to our Year 6s who will enjoy their final Friday at Overton St Helen's. They led a fabulous Leaver's assembly this afternoon which reminded us of the talent and contribution they have given to the school. We will miss every single one of them.

I hope you all have a good summer break. School reopens on Wednesday 2nd September, bright and early at 8.30am. See you then!

A Final Thank You!

On Wednesday, as part of our final celebration worship, we presented Mrs West with a bouquet of flowers to say a massive thank you from all the pupils for her contribution, love and care over so many years.

As she leaves us tomorrow to begin a well deserved early retirement, I am sure you will all join me in thanking her from the bottom of our hearts and wishing her all the best.

Thanks Mrs West - you've been amazing!

Solar Eclipse Glasses

You may or may not be aware, that on 12th August this summer, there will be a 90% solar eclipse.

The Higginson family, local to Overton and dear friends of the school, first donated eclipse glasses to local school children all over the area back in 2015, in memory of their late son George Higginson, so that children could safely view the solar eclipse that happened that year.

This year they are doing the same and tomorrow all pupils will take home a pair of eclipse glasses to safely observe this amazing natural phenomena. I've got my pair too and am already keeping everything crossed for clear skies that day.

Our huge thanks to Jonathan Higginson for thinking of us.

Thanks OSFA

I want to take this final opportunity to thank our OSFA team for all their amazing hard work this school year. Last week's Colour Dash was the perfect end to a great year full of fairs, discos, pop up shops and fabulous visitors.

Thanks all who supported the colour dash last week when a whopping £1332 was raised having what can only be described as a whole lot of messy fun!

Remember, they are always on the lookout for new members, so if you feel like getting involved, please let us know next year.
