Weekly Round Up
With our school diary getting busier and busier, newsletters may come at different times to the usual Friday afternoon over the next couple of weeks, but our priority is to keep you all up to date on many things left to come before the end of the year.
Last week was a really important and fabulous week for many reasons. Our Year 6s all visited their prospective high schools and returned with big grins and much excitement for what is to come. Willow Class and Beech Class went out on trips to Coniston to take part in outdoor activities such as canoeing, fell walking and ghyl scrambling. I was really happy to hear that many of our pupils showed a fearless, can do attitude which allowed them to push the limits of what they could achieve. Well done to all!
This morning in worship we looked ahead to many events over the next two weeks and how enjoyable they will be. Please look carefully through the newsletter so that nothing gets missed.
Sports Day
On Wednesday this week, we will be holding our Sports Day, after having to postpone back in early June due to bad weather. Looking at this week's forecast, it's a joy to have confidence that the weather will finally be on our side and I am as sure as I can be that it will go ahead.
All pupils should come to school in their PE kit that day. It's important that correct PE kit, which should be in House colours, is worn, so that the pupils feel part of their team.
OSFA will be selling refreshments for adults only, so it is important that all pupils have their drinks bottles to take round the field with them. Please do not buy drinks or snacks to give to your child - we have refreshments organised for them during the morning. I think sun hats are advisable and a good layer of sun cream before school.
Those coming to watch are welcome to move around the school field as your child's class travels around each race station. However, please remember not to stand anywhere near finish lines as this can be extremely daunting for our pupils.
Just a heads up - we will be including a pre-schooler's race and a parent's race to the morning schedule - don't forget your running shoes if you want to enter!
Walk to Sunderland Point
On Thursday, Elm, Holly and Maple Classes will be walking to Sunderland Point on their annual adventure, exploring the features of the point and the shore line.
Again looking at the forecast, sunhats, sun cream and plenty of drinks are a must.
I believe we have a host of parent volunteers coming along with us - my thanks in advance; it promises to be a great day out as usual.
Colour Dash
We finish the week off with OSFA's Colour Dash, a fantastic event last year that promises to be just as good again. Parents should have purchased tickets and signed wavers on line by now - if you haven't, please try to do this ahead of Friday as it will save on time.
At the end of the school day, all pupils should be collected as normal at the classroom doors. Adults who are running with the children need to pick up their wristbands from OSFA's stall on the field - the children's wristbands will be given out in class before the end of the day.
Once you have collected your child, parents should move over to the school field and look out for the start of the Colour Dash. OSFA will be setting off different age groups at different times. Wave 1 will be any pre-school children and Maple Class; Wave 2 will be Holly and Elm Class and Wave 3 will be Willow and Beech pupils. Finally, pupils from Oak Class will set off in Wave 4.
OSFA will be making announcements throughout the event so listen out carefully for where you need to be and when. Refreshments and ice-creams will be on sale as will final raffle tickets for the Rainbow Raffle. Thanks to all who have already donated coloured prizes - please keep them coming in.
End of Year Reports
Next Monday, all pupils will come home with their end of year reports. This is a summary of what they have achieved over the year giving parents details of the progress their child has made.
On that day we will also send out an email to all parents with details of which class you child will be in next year and who their teacher and supporting adults will be. Following that, on Wednesday 15th July, all pupils will move into their new class groups to get to know their new classmates, teachers and classrooms. This is always an important session which helps to ease any worries pupils may have.
On an additional note, I emailed out to Year 6 parents news of an unfortunate delay to SATs results being sent to schools. Therefore please remember that results will not be included with the Year 6's reports next Monday.
Stars of the Week
Well done to Lucia in Maple Class, Maverick in Holly Class, Poppy in Elm, Neave in Willow Class and Freya in Oak, who were our Stars of the Week for showing great effort and a positive attitude in their learning over the week.
