Overton St Helen's Primary School family news: Issue 30
Weekly Round Up
This week has been a little more 'normal' in school, without any famous people visiting or inspectors in our midst. However it's been a busy week nonetheless.
On Monday evening we hosted the inter-schools' Cross Country Competition; it was lovely to see many of our local primary schools visit for the event. With the sun shining brightly, it really was a wonderful evening. A big well done to our team of Year 6 boys who won their team event, with Tom Jewitt sprinting to the line after a gruelling race, to claim the silver medal. It was a fabulous race to watch! Credit also goes to all our pupils who entered the competition.
Next week we see auditions taking place for our upcoming Talent Show, on Wednesday 9th July. Good luck to all who enter and thank you for putting yourselves forward.
OSFA Colour Dash
On Friday 11th July, from 2.30pm onwards, OSFA are holding a Colour Dash! We thought this year we would make a change to our usual Summer Fair and have an event with a difference. A track will be marked out around our school field and school staff will be placed at strategic intervals to throw colour over those who enter. It should be great fun and a fantastic event for all.
Leaflets came home with pupils yesterday for booking a place on the colour dash. In addition to this, there will be refreshment stalls with food and drink and an ice-cream van too!
Please get the entry slips back to school as soon as possible - many thanks.
Year 6 Transition Workshops for Pupils and Parents
On Thursday 10th July, Jade and her colleagues from the Barnardos Mental Health Team, will be coming in to visit our Year 6 pupils, leading a talk on transition to high school. They will be giving our pupils top tips on how to manage their feelings around transitioning to high school and how to organise themselves independently in those crucial first few weeks.
On the same day, Jade will also be holding a workshop for parents at the later time of 3.30pm - 4.30pm, offering some useful strategies to support your children as they move on from primary school. It can be a tense time for all involved and we hope through these workshops to not only offer our pupils some support, but our parents too. We hope you can take up this offer.
School Photographs
After the photographer's visit to school on Tuesday this week, we now have the proofs, which will be sent home today with all pupils. Orders can be made either online or via the school - simply read carefully and follow the instructions in the envelope.
