Weekly Round Up
What a week!
It's been an amazing week at Overton St Helen's with every day bringing a fresh challenge that our pupils have risen up to. On Monday, we welcomed Steel into our school, making us the envy of many other schools in the area! Steel visited each class, inspiring our pupils to keep fit, stay positive and face every day with determination.
Then, after a more 'normal' day on Tuesday, Wednesday brought about Sports Day. The sun shone, the children raced and it was a glorious morning of competition with a real sporting feel. I hope all the parents and grandparents that joined us, enjoyed it as much as we did.
Yesterday, our pupils and whole school community shone brightly as we welcomed Mrs Laura Watson into our midst, school inspector for Anglican and Methodist schools. We had an extremely positive day and before she left, Mrs Watson expressed her thanks to the pupils of the school for making her feel so welcome as the day progressed. Her report should be with us and able to be shared with our parents in about 3 weeks.
We've then finished the week on a high, with our football themed day raising money for British Heart Foundation, in memory of Mr Coultas. Many thanks to Ollie Wellock and Morecambe Football Club who came in this morning to lead some football skills sessions. The whole day has rounded off the week perfectly.
Cross Country Competition
Next Monday, we will be hosting the inter-schools Cross Country competition, starting at 4pm. We have our own team entering the event, however we look forward to welcoming many other schools to Overton for the afternoon. Thank you in advance to our older volunteers who have agreed to help with stewarding on the day and good luck to all schools who will be entering.
Overton Talent Show
There has been much talk in and around school regarding our upcoming Talent Show on Wednesday 9th July. Class auditions will take place the week beginning 23rd June, so pupils must be ready with their talents, if they wish to enter. Remember, preparation for this must take place at home or be organised by the pupils themselves. Please talk to your children about whether they wish to enter and what talent they plan to enter with. Completed slips to indicate your child's wish to enter, must be returned to school before audition week.
If you missed the letter that came home to parents at the beginning of this month, copies are in the entrance porch so please come to pick another one up.
Time is quickly ticking by, so please don't miss out!
School Photographs
Don't forget, next Tuesday is school photograph day. The photographer will be with us early and from 8.15am, families with children younger than school age, are welcome to come for a group photo if you want to take up the opportunity.
As the morning progresses, we will then make sure each pupil has an individual photo and family group photo taken, for you to choose from. Proofs should be ready to be sent home the same day.
