Overton St Helen's Primary School family news: Issue 25
Weekly Round Up
It's been a very 'average' week in school this week, which is a brilliant thing! - no trips, visits or visitors, but just lots of hard work from all classes. It was quite obvious from the work shared in celebration worship this morning, just how hard each class has been working. I have to give our Year 6 a special mention, who have been pushing themselves hard this week in their SATs revision. Ahead of us now is a long, three-day weekend, bringing us back to school on Tuesday 6th May - plenty of time to get some reading done!
We have also been making the most of the good weather which although cooler, is set to continue next week. Please make sure children have sunhats with them if they are particularly affected by the sunshine. Could I also remind all parents that although shorts are absolutely ok to wear when the weather is warm, they should be in line with our school uniform - black or grey shorts that are not too short. Thank you.
Parent Questionnaire
At some point today, parents should receive a link via text to an online survey about our school. We always welcome feedback at Overton St Helen's from our parents, as working together with you is one of the best ways of making your child's journey through school a happy and successful one. Therefore we would very much appreciate you taking 10 minutes of your time to complete the survey. Simply click on the link and this will take you directly to the survey. It is anonymous, however there is an option to indicate which class or classes your child is in. Many thanks in advance - once I have a good number of responses I will collate and summarise the results for your information.
The link to the survey is also below:
Polytunnel Help!
We are still seeking a small group of parents (or grandparents, aunties, uncles - we're not fussy) who would be willing to help us begin to erect our polytunnel. There is no need for you to be an expert on this as we already have one of those we can rely on. We simply need a couple of people who could measure out, dig some holes and set some brackets in concrete so that we can hold the frame firm.
If you think you could help us, please let us know. We will make sure the first crop of veggies grown successfully in our polytunnel, have your name on them!
Rose Festival Preparations
The maypole music has been echoing through the halls of Overton St Helen's, which can only mean one thing - Rose Festival preparation has begun!
More details will follow nearer the time, however here are just a few early bits of information. Our Rose Festival will begin at the slightly later time than originally planned, of 1.30pm on Friday 23rd May. It will take place on the lower playground and all classes will be participating in either the Rose King and Rose Queen parade, or class musical performances.
This is the second year our Rose Festival has taken place in the earlier month of May, so remember, it will no longer be followed by OSFA's Summer Fair, which will take place as usual, in July. After the Rose Festival, parents are invited to stay for a while to have tea and cake on the upper playground. We hope to have an ice-cream van too. Keep everything you have crossed and say your prayers that the dry, warm weather continues right up until the end of May! More details will follow in later newsletters.
