Overton St Helen's Primary School family news: Issue 24(25/26)

Termly Round Up!

What a busy term it's been, trying to fit our busy school lives into a shorter amount of weeks. However it's not stopped us doing loads of fabulous things and making some great achievements. This morning in Friday Worship we reminded ourselves of all that has happened, from right at the beginning of term when Owl Adventures visited, to our Year 5 trip to London earlier this week. We sure have packed a lot in!

A big well done and thank you to those pupils who have represented our school in sporting events this term. We particularly congratulated our Y5/6 footballers who come to the end of their mammoth four league events consisting of 9 games each time, played in some rather challenging weather at times. What a great effort they have made. There will be many more opportunities to represent the school in the coming Summer Term.

I also mentioned how proud I am of the work our various pupil councils have done this term. There will be some important messages and info coming from our Eco-Council about how we can reduce our food waste next term - they have been doing some great research behind the scenes so far. Our Worship Council have worked really hard in leading worships throughout the various classes this term and our School Council led the cereal box domino run event brilliantly. Morecambe Bay Foodbank came to collect the cereal earlier this week and they were amazed by how much we had collected.

A massive thank you to all our parents for supporting us and our activities this term. I hope you all have a joyful and restful Easter. We will see you bright and early when we return after the break on Monday 13th April.

After School Clubs

Letters for next term's after-school clubs will be given out at the start of the new term. A reminder however that those children already signed up for Monday's Dance Club with Miss Helen, do have the opportunity to sign up for a few more weeks straight after the Easter holidays. Miss Helen is due to finish for maternity leave and so we cannot offer this as a new opportunity for the whole term. Please get in touch with Mrs Barry as soon as you can if you would like to take advantge of this offer.

New School Menu

When we return after the Easter holidays, we will be following a new school lunch Spring/Summer menu (children brought these home in book bags last week). I have placed the new menu on the school website for you all to have a look at. I would urge all parents to take a look and disucss options with your child. When a new menu comes into play it always takes a little while to adjust to the new food and can cause some upset. Pre-empting what each meal will be like will help out enormously.

Two changes to be aware of - school lunch prices will be going up to £3 per lunch. Secondly, there is a small ammendment to choices on Tuesday Wk 3. On this day a filled sandwich instead of a jacket potato will be the third option for lunch.

Rose King and Queen

This week the whole school voted for who they would like to be our Rose King and Rose Queen for 2026. Thank you to those Year 6 pupils who put their name forwards to be considered for the positions, however only one King and Queen can be chosen.

I have pleasure in anouncing that Max Waterhouse will be our Rose King of 2026 and Ava Gudgeon will be our Rose Queen. Congratulations to you both.

Stars of the Week

Well done to Freddie in Maple Class, Olive in Holly Class, Tommy in Willow, Jaxon in Beech Class and Joseph in Oak who were our Stars of the Week for their continued effort and great attitude to their learning.

Added congratulations go to the following pupils who received a Values Award for Compassion this morning:

Mrs Marsland's award - Connie Hogg

Mrs Harding's award - Polly Brooks

Mr Wood's award - Hugo Korab
