Overton St Helen's Primary School family news: Issue 20
Weekly Round Up
With the absence of a newsletter last week, there are lots of things that need a mention in my round up this week. It's definitely been a busy fortnight with Year 5 Bikeability training, World Book Day, a community coffee afternoon and a Y3/4 athletics meet. I was extremely proud of our Year 5s who received lots of compliments from the Bikeability instructors about how they listened intently and followed every instruction given to them.
World Book Day was a fab day in school as always - thanks so much for supporting this with organising the brilliant costumes. I have been delayed in getting some photos on to the Facebook page but please be patient - they are coming!
Next week we are looking forward to our annual Year 5 trip to London to visit The Houses of Parliament. It's always an amazing experience for our pupils and I am sure this year will be equally brilliant. Our new MP Lizzie Collinge is keen to meet up with us when we visit so we are looking forward to saying hello.
2025 Challenge!
Well done to Emily in Beech Class who is our third pupil to complete OSFA's 2025 challenge. She strung together 2025 loom bands to make one VERY long string, raising £11.50 for her efforts. I think it was an amazing achievement to have the patience to count out 2025 loom bands in the first place! Thanks for your efforts Emily - I hope you have inspired others to take up the challenge too.
Good luck Miss West!
Last Friday we wished Miss West lots of love and luck as she left us to begin her maternity leave. The latest addition to the family is due next month but we hope for the moment, Miss West is managing to put her feet up and rest before the baby arrives.
Lunchtime Assistant Vacancy.
Whilst we are without Miss West, we are looking to recruit some one temporarily to join our midday welfare team. If you are interested in this temporary opportunity, please get in touch and we will be only too happy to share more details with you.
Amazing Y3/4 Athletics
I am super proud of the team of athletes we took to Lancaster and Morecambe College yesterday evening, facing some extremely tough competition against four other schools. The team were brilliant in their effort and their determination to do their best and the support they showed for one another was fab. Even though they didn't manage to win any of the races, they kept their spirits up and the smiles on their faces said it all. It is always a privilege to witness how supportive our pupils can be with one another. Well done Noah, Will, Flynn, Charles, Anderson, Frankie, Edith, Lucy, Sofia, Orlaith, Alba and Annabelle.
