Overton St Helen's Primary School family news: Issue 15
Weekly Round Up!
What a wonderful week and what a great time we've all had!
It started off on Monday with a very thoughtful and reflective worship led by our Worship Council, and the final Christmas Dodgeball session led by Mr Wilcock. It finished today with the our whole school Carol Service at St Helen's Church, the last of the Christmas parties and a final farewell to Mr Croskery.
There's been a number of highlights for me - the Elf Walk was a great opportunity to get out around our village and connect, with a wave, to some of our residents. Another highlight was definitely this morning's Carol Service where the beautiful candle-lit church created a welcoming and cosy space for us all to reflect on the Christmas message.
And so now, with all the school festivities complete and Christmas time with family and friends all waiting ahead of us, all that remains is to wish all our school family a very merry Christmas and a joyous and peaceful New Year.
Happy Retirement and Thank You!
At the end of this term, we find ourselves saying farewell and thank you, to two long standing members of staff.
Mr Croskery, our Site Supervisor of 15 years, today hung up his Henry Hoover and said goodbye as he begins his retirement. On behalf of all the pupils, staff and governors, we would like to say thank you for the many years of service and congratulations!
We also say a massive thank you to Miss Coultas, who after a period of absence has also made the decision to retire. Miss Coultas has been a teaching assistant for over 25 years at Overton St Helen's and has helped many, many pupils throughout that time. We wish her lots of love and hope that she may consider a spot of 'volunteer reading' in the future.
Many, many thanks to you both from us all.
Fantastic Fundraising!
A massive thank you to all our amazingly generous parents who have been so kind in supporting our charitable causes this term.
From the Nativity and Carol Service collections and then the money we collected on the Elf Walk day, the total we raised for St John's Hospice was just over £416. When you consider this along with the totals we raised for Macmillan Cancer Care (coffee afternoon), Morecambe Bay Charities (Morecambe Bay Day) and Children in Need, and all the food we collected at Harvest for Morecambe Foodbank, for a little primary school, we have done an awesome job.
You are all truly inspirational! Thank you!
New Term
Just a reminder that the new term begins on Monday 5th January. Our Breakfast Club will be open from 7.30am as usual for anyone who may need the service.
Stars of the Week and Values Awards
We gave our Star of the Week certificates and Values Awards for 'Peace' out on Thursday in our final celebration worship of the term.
Well done to Jacob in Maple Class, Grace in Holly Class and Niamh in Elm, Lola in Willow Class, Orlaith in Beech Class and Alice in Oak who were our super stars, for being reliable, showing kindness, keeping focused as the week has progressed and producing some great work.
Congratulations also go to Evie from Maple Class, Tommy from Holly Class, Jake from Elm Class, Nate from Willow Class, Athena from Beech Class and Joseph from Oak who were awarded Values Awards this term. Lucy and Henry, also from Oak Class, gained Miss Hall and Mrs Easthope's awards, respectively, for showing great examples of our value 'Peace'. Well done all.
