Weekly Round Up

Another busy week in school this week but for different reasons to the previous one. Classes have been working extremely hard with their work, building on their topic learning to extend their knowledge and skills. We saw some amazing examples of quality writing in celebration worship this morning, from all our KS2 classes, demonstrating the amount of effort being made. Well done all and keep it up.

The inevitable has also happened this week - Nativity songs and the practice of Christmas Carols have now started echoing down the corridors from the classrooms of Maple, Holly, Elm and Willow, in preparations for their seasonal offerings. I hope all have made a note of the dates for both the Nativity and the Carol Service as parents will not want to miss them.

Food Bank Visit

In a couple of Wednesdays, our House Captains will be going for a visit to Morecambe Foodbank after expressing a desire to find out more and help out, when they collected donations for them at Harvest time.

There have been a few recent appeals, made to the wider community, from the Foodbank, as they have a growing demand that they are currently struggling to meet. Therefore we felt, saying as we are visiting, that it might be a good idea to take some donations when we go. If you feel you could give a little more to the foodbank, then please send in any donations of food, perhaps including a small Christmas chocolate item, into school over the next week or so, so that we can take these when we visit.

Many thanks in advance.

Clothes Hangers

If anyone has any spare clothes hangers they do not need, we would particularly welcome them in school. Parents may not be aware that we now keep a used uniform rail in Sycamore Room, for anyone to come in and help themselves to. We view this as a great way, more than anything else, to reduce clothing waste however we hope it may also save our parent body a pound or two.

We have lots of old uniform that needs to go on hangers, hence the request. However please bear this in mind and feel free to pop in to Sycamore to have a look - just mention it to your class teacher and they will point the way.

2 Weeks to the Christmas Fair!!!!!

With only two weeks to go, preparations has now moved up a gear. Now is the time to start sending in your donations in earnest and OSFA are very grateful for anything you can give. Here is the list below:

  • Teddys

  • Wine

  • Small tombola prizes

  • Larger gift items for the Christmas Sleigh

This is what we are looking out for right now, so please have a look at home to see what you have going spare, that will fill one of the mentioned items above. Also, think wine! (It's the prize all you adults love to win!!)

Please also get selling the raffle tickets. There are some absolutely amazing prizes this year and you'll want to be in it, to win it, that's for sure.

THANK YOU!!

Owl Adventures

Next week, we have a real treat in store for all our pupils, with Owl Adventures visiting school. This originally came about when Mrs Marsland decided to book this experience for Maple Class as part of their curriculum learning. However it became apparent that all our pupils would be able to enjoy this extra-curricular experience too.

Thank you to all who have sent in a £1 contribution to the cost of the visit. This will by no means cover the full amount, but it will help us out enormously.

Stars of the Week

Well done indeed to Saun-Thomas in Maple Class, Grace in Holly Class, Jax in Elm, Hugo in Willow, Elliot in Beech and Henry in Oak Class who are our Stars of the Week for showing great effort and resilience in their learning, for staying focused on their work, and producing some very impressive writing. Well done all!
