Overton St Helen's Primary School family news: Issue 10

Weekly Round Up

It's been a very busy week this week packed with so many different things. We started our week with Remembrance and on Tuesday, came together to have a very respectful and reflective worship, when we observed two minutes silence.

Year 5 worked hard over the first two days of the week, practicing their Bikeability skills to earn Level 1 and 2 certification and then our Year 6's achieved their Level 3 certificates completing a 5 mile(ish) bike ride. It was an awesome three days with many important life skills being developed - well done all for the resilience you showed.

Today, we have finished the week in style with our Children in Need fundraiser, when our House Captains, showing their leadership skills, organised and led the charity event in school. This afternoon, they'll be counting up all the donations you kindly sent in and we'll get a total to you next week. Thanks so much for your kind support.

Shout Out for our House Captains!

I want to include just a quick shout out to our House Captains on today's newsletter, who have organised a fab Children in Need fundraiser today. This is in addition to their brilliant work last half-term with the Harvest collections for the foodbank and the Macmillan Coffee Afternoon.

In a couple of weeks at their request, we are going for a visit to Morecambe Foodbank, where they will help out for the afternoon and get to see the important work they do in the community.

I am so proud to see a bunch of our pupils developing their confidence and leadership skills; so well done Emma, Garth, Freya and Archie, Georgia, Dylan, Ted and Ava - and Henry who brilliantly deputized at the last minute, for his house captain this morning. Fantastic!

3 Weeks to the Christmas Fair!

The banner is now up and preparations are fully underway!

We are looking for donations of the following items:

  • Teddys

  • Wine

  • Small tombola prizes

  • Larger gift items for the Christmas Sleigh

  • Cakes - on the day!

Please begin to send in donations our way. It's not too early for us to start collecting and the more donations we get, the better the fair. Thank you so much in advance!

Stars of the Week

Well done to Isla in Maple Class, Olive in Holly Class, Aliza in Elm, Lily in Willow, Alba-Rose in Beech and Lilly in Oak Class who are our Stars of the Week, for showing an amazing attitude in class, working hard and showing positivity throughout the week. Well done all!
