Overton St Helen’s Primary School family news: Issue 15
WEEKLY ROUND UP
It’s been another great week in school, feeling much busier with the start of our after-school clubs, a class out on a trip for the day and a sports competition. We also met Reverend Sarah Cliffe from St John’s Sandylands CE Church in Heysham, who in the absence of a vicar from our own St Helen’s Church, will be popping in this half-term to lead a worship or two with us.
You may have realised that you are currently reading the newsletter in this format after me informing you all that last week would be the last newsletter in this way and that our new website would be up and running. Like always, hidden pitfalls in the world of technology have caused us problems trying to switch over to the new website and this has held us up. I daren’t say when this will be solved, so all I can do is apologise for the hold up and ask you to watch this space. I am crossing all my fingers that we will be able to get there very soon.
PE CHANGES
From next week there will be a change of date to Willow Class’s PE. Usually their PE days are Thursday and Friday however this will change to Monday and Friday, meaning Willow Class will need their PE kit on, next Monday.
We have also had to make some changes to our offer of school swimming. Usually at this point in the year Beech Class would be having swimming sessions in one of their PE lessons, however Molly’s Swim School, who we use to deliver our lessons, is changing their venue from Bay Leadership pool to Ocean Edge. This is a better venue and will mean a more continuous service for us, but we just need to wait for the changes to go ahead. Beech Class will be swimming in the Summer Term. Thank you for your patience.
SCHOOL LINKING PROJECT
On Wednesday, Oak Class went out of school to Burnley Youth Theatre, meeting up with Deepdale Primary School from Preston, as part of the Schools Linking Project. It was an excellent and important day, where our pupils practised the very important life-skill of meeting and learning about new people. Our Y6s will have to utilise this skill all too soon when they start high school, so this was an excellent opportunity for them. After some hesitation at the start of the day, I’m pleased to say new friendships were made.
